I was recently told by a fellow REALTOR that there are some agents who proudly profess “We do not show short sales or REOs!”.
Ha! This really cracks me up, how is this in YOUR CLIENTS best interest? Shouldn’t they see all the houses that meet their needs, even if they are short sales or REOs??
OK, I know, I know they are a lot of work, more work than a traditional sale (sometimes)…we’re REALTORS, it just makes sense to me to show my clients all the houses that meet their needs and let them choose the ones they want to see.
I wonder if excluding Short Sales and REOs from your clients “list” that you prepare or email to them, without telling them that you don’t show “those types of listings” is a new form of ’steering’??
Now, you certainly don’t have to accept short sale or REO listings, if you are not willing to do all the extra work that comes along with being a listing agent, this is totally fine with me; that just means more listings for the hard working agents out there that I like to deal with!
One more suggestion to agents who don’t like to work too hard…other industries are hiring, I hear Starbucks has great benefits and once you clock out, believe me no one will be calling you with questions about coffee!!
